300 Indians Protest Proposed Fund Cut

The leader of the American Indian Movement says "it may take another Watts" before the United States realizes "the plight of the American Indians."

The reference to racial disorders which shook the Watts section of Los Angeles in the 1960s was made by Dennis Banks, as some 300 Indians traveled what AIM leaders call the "trail of broken treaties" to Washington D.C. to protest proposed cuts in the budget of the Bureau of Indian Affairs.
