Sioux Leader Outraged

The chairman of the Oglala Sioux Tribal Council says he was outraged at destruction during Indian occupations of the Bureau of Indian Affairs building in Washington and a museum in Nebraska this week.

Dick Wilson, who is also president of the Oglala Sioux, strongly criticized the American Indian Movement (AIM), which led both demonstrations and said he would not permit their representatives on the vast Pine Ridge Reservation.

Wilson said Russell Means, a national official of AIM, is seeking permission from the United Sioux Tribes of South Dakota to visit the reservation, to relate AIM's views on what happened during the occupation of the Bureau of Indian Affairs.
